Silsbury Creek: A Hamlet in the Known Lands

For my Rolemaster adventure I have the following information of Silsbury Creek.

Silsbury Creek is a small town located on the Caithness Isles. It's in a remote valley located some ten leagues inland from the coast. Silsbury Creek is built around a small creek that flows through the valley, providing the hamlet with water. The Valley is quite small, only 15 miles wide and 19 miles long. The local climate provides for greenery for much of the year.

Population: 150 adults, 250 children
Services: To be frank, not many.
  1. There's an inn and tavern ("Greyhound Tavern") which serves as the local entertainment spot.
  2. There is an outfitter ("Farid's Outfitting") that provides supplies for woodcutters and huntsmen.
  3. There is a Wizardly couple, Kent and Adara. Kent is a magician, and Adara is an Elementalist (fire mage). Both are training apprentices.
  4. Peirce's place. Peirce is a Massalian Elf who has come to Silsbury Creek to escape his past as an invader of Anglesey Island (now New Massalia) some thirty years ago. He's the town ranger, and he's a moody, melancholy elf.
  5. Edrand the Apothecary (Alchemy and Medicine). Edrand and his wife Fionna (a physician) are the source of medical practice here in Silsbury Creek. Edrand makes medicines and poisons, while Fionna is a midwife and chirurgeon. Edrand is also an Alchemist, and has skills relating the magical world with the physical.
  6. There is a town hall ("The House of Jarlath") where the people share a common, democratic way of doing politics.
  7. Grosmog's house ("Shaman"). Grosmog and his life Luthila are (greater) orcs from the Dragonhide tribe. The pair were considered traitors when Grosmog spoke against raiding Silsbury Creek for supplies. The pair were banished, and after the raid happened one out of five women gave birth to a half-orc baby (14 in all). Grosmog and Luthila took in three half-orc babies to raise with their three full orc children. Their adopted sons and daughters are nearing manhood and maidenhood.
  8. Justin Church ("Church of Justice"). The Local church house for the Holy Light. There are more believers in the Holy Light than there are other religions: but there are a few Christians and Pagans, which are in the minority.
Aside from a cooper, a blacksmith, a cobbler, a tailor and seemstress, a pottery maker, and a weaver; the rest of Silsbury creek is made up of fruit and vegetable farms.

A map is coming soon! :D

Rolemaster Adventures!!

I'm working on my first Rolemaster campaign for publication. It's set in the Known Lands.

So, I'm going to publish some ideas here on my blog.

a. The adventure takes place in a remote village in a valley. The village was founded by contraries from the four major powers in the Caithness Isles: Caithness, the Horde, and New Massalia. This allows for a great number of player characters from different races: Massalian elves, orcs, and humans for three.

b. The first publication deals with low levels: 1-5 (or 7).

Some ideas from other media:
  1. An expedition out of the Valley when the village is low on supplies. The expedition is to go to the King to tell what is happening and what can be done about it (Icewind Dale CRPG)
  2. An obscure event sets off a tragedy and opportunities for adventure. (NWN 2)
  3. The PCs are originally prisoners set free by the King to find their destinies. (Morrowind)
  4. The PCs are agents of the King sent to investigate some strange happenings (Daggerfall).
I thought about pregenerating some PCs to get GMs started with Rolemaster. What do you guys think?

Oh, in other news, on the Rendering front: I made some alternate textures for Play with Poser's ExtremeSwim Suit 3 for Aiko 3. Here is a picture of one of those textures --

Stars and Stripes by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

I'm thinking of collecting the textures and selling them on Renderosity as my first inroad to Enterprise. :)

Polka-Dot Bikini by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie polka-dot bikini.

My sixth Pin-up. I think some of the "Everyday" poses that come with V4 and DAZ Studio are actually bikini model poses. Although the pose above came from Adam Thwaites' V4 Pose series.

Pin Ups are cool!!

Elf in a Swimsuit by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

A pinup isn't bad. It's just a different kind of fantasy art. Yeah, the pose maximizes attractiveness, but the author never means to titillate. Just enjoy, for Beauty is one of the principles of the Christian Gospel.

New DAZ Studio renders

I have been busy!

I have done a couple of new Renders that would be of interest. First, an elvish woman from Cyre (who is strangely beginning to define beauty for me).

Khoravar Elf by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

Second, I'm trying to capture the Illuminati feeling that goes along with Eberron. With my Inspired Secret Master.

And a Talenta Halfling on his Carver in the Talenta plains. A second picture has been commissioned for this one.

The best way to work in 3D is practice, and I have practiced a lot today. All of these can go into a fantasy collection of art.

Adapting Eberron to Rolemaster

While looking for a poser model for Deinonychus (yes, the dino in Jurassic Park) for my Eberron Conversion, I had an idea of doing an anthropological race of them. Just an idea. :D

Anyhoo, I am working on Adapting Wizards of the Coast's Eberron to Rolemaster Fantasy Roleplaying. I've so far statted out several of Khorvaire's Arts of Mars. And you don't have to tell me twice that D&D simulates these with single feats and tactical feats! However, Rolemaster has done them better. Here's a look at two. With video references:

KARRNATHI SWORDSMANSHIP
Advanced Weapon Style [50 style points]
Description --- Human Swordsmanship was first developed in Sarlona thousands of years ago. From the time that it came to the Lhaazar Principalities and into Karrnathi it was developed into a dynamic, fluid, energetic art where a Karrn depended on his sword to protect him and his family from invaders. When Karrnathi was finally established, the art lived and thrived and took on a life of it's own during the War of the Mark. When the Kingdom of Galifar was established, Karrnathi Swordsmanship became the ancestor of all modern human Khorvairese weapon arts.

Recommended Skills --- War Mattock, Halberd, Broadsword, Dagger, Longsword, Short Sword, Falchion, Bastard Sword, Two-Handed Sword, Great Sword, Wrestling, Boxing, Adrenal Defense, Feinting, Disarm Foe [1h weapons and 2h weapons]

Weapon Style Abilities [Core] --- All bladed weapons [10 points], War Mattock [5 points], Halberd [5 points], Adrenal Defense, Lesser [10 points], Shield Training [20 points]

Special Ability ---
Half Swording --- A person trained in this art may use his sword as a Hammer or a Staff by holding the blade to defend himself or attack. Half-swording allows one to use Krush as an alternate critical at a -5 penalty (if one is using 2003 edition of Arms Law).

And now . . .
THOUGHTSHIFTING
Advanced Weapon Art [60 Style Points]
Description --- Designed for soulknives (Kalashtar paladins or magents who take the Soulknife training package), this Martial Art was developed by the Atavists, who lead the fight against the Dreaming Dark. The Art is designed for Kalashtar soulknives to learn how to control their mindblades for maximum impact. As it is continues to be refined, the Thoughtshifting weapon art shows to be fast, fluid, and brutal.

Recommended Skills --- Mind blade attack skill, Feint, Disarm Foe (1h bladed), Adrenal Defense, Meditation
Weapon Art Abilities [Core] ---- Mindblade attack [5 points], +2 to Initiative Rolls [10 points], Adrenal Defense, Lesser [10 points], All Around Attack [15 points], All Around Defense [15], +10 bonus to Disarm Foe (1-handed Bladed) [5 points]

Weapon Art Maneuvers
Burrowing Blade --- To use this maneuver you must make a full attack with your mindblade against an opponent using a shield. In the following round, you may expend a power point to allow your next mind blade attack to ignore your foe's Shield DB bonus.
Nemesis --- This maneuver allows the Thoughtshifter to adapt his mind blade to his opponent. He must make at least one attack against the same foe for two consecutive rounds. In the next round, you can spend one power point to adapt your weapon to your foe, recieving a +2 bonus to your Mind Blade's OB. However, you take a -2 penalty to your mind blade's OB against another foe. This effect lasts until you restore the balance of your blade.
Shifting Blade --- To use this maneuver, the thoughtshifter makes a melee attack with his mind blade against a specific foe. On a melee attack against the same foe in the next round, you can spend a power point to change the shape of your mind blade to deliver an alternate critical (Puncture, Krush, Raking, Plasma, or Slash) until the start of your next turn.

4th Edition, Again!

Oh yes, somebody tried to sell me the 4th Edition of Dungeons and Dragons today on the WotC boards. I told him to relax and calm down. Basically, 4th Edition is the current incarnation of the game, but really is it worth it to buy? Seriously, I ask myself this. Why buy a system that could change in the next year?

I have realized that there is more to life than playing Dungeons and Dragons; especially when it has become a game that keeps on changing every 2 years. Dungeons and Dragons follows all the trends, but now it's gotten out of hand. Looking at the History of Dungeons and Dragons, the game has gone from the iconic RPG to one that follows trends in RPGs. This is because I've heard that they are working on 4.5. And the game isn't even 2 yet!

So, what am I getting out of Dungeons and Dragons, playing it? So far, I made myself a social outcast. I mean really, I am a social outcast for much of my life. I either took life too seriously, or I found it to be too oppressive on myself. Or I was making myself into a victim, when in fact I create my life.

Looking around, I really don't like the results. Unmarried, hardly any friends except family and ward members. No girlfriend. And living with my parents and brother, who I question their ability to love me. Maybe I don't feel inspired, or I take on too many unproductive tasks for charity. Maybe, I lack inspiration lately. Maybe I fear marriage in a way, thats why I'm not taking any action towards that goal. Heck, I have enough RPGs to last a lifetime, and I don't want to get into the RPG race any more.

I'm not giving up RPGs, heck no! My favorite activity -- Worldbuilding -- is closely linked to it. Worldbuilding is the funnest, most beautiful ART in the Universe! I love doing it! I absolutely love worldbuilding to it's very core! It excites me to use this exciting knowledge of everything I have!

When I am building a world, I am in "the Zone." It's where everything clicks and I feel very, very happy. In fact, when I was adapting Eberron to Rolemaster, I felt happy. After all, I managed to stat out 14 different Martial Arts for use in Rolemaster! YAY!! And I did it in three days, YAHOOOO! The Force is with me, very, very much.

So, I feel unfulfilled, uncontent. And really, I didn't need a 4th Edition Fanboi to really make me feel explaining my feelings about Dungeons and Dragons. And you know what, he didn't. The Fanboi said all the flavor is in the system, after I said that flavor is more important for the DM and the players to fill and create. Because, it really is up to the GM and the players to create the feel of your game. Anyone who says different is selling something.

"4E will make your game better! It can do everything you want it to do!" Oh please . . . I don't really need that. I already know that Dungeons and Dragons is severely limited to what I want it to do. It's up to me to fill in the cracks and the spaces that D&D misses.

But what I need now is not the newest Roleplaying Game System to come out of Wizards of the Coast, especially when its going to be made obsolete already. What I need is something more lasting, something I can count on being there. Something I can get joy. Or rather, Someone. Isn't LIFE wonderful?

Start of a new Blog

I started a new blog to talk about current events. Although I could use this blog to do so, it's best to start a new blog. The blog is called: "In My Opinion" and all I do is reflect on my opinion on current events that happen in Utah and can affect Utah. This is so that the Atlantis blog doesn't get "political."

It wasn't set up to be a political blog, except where my lifestyle is concerned (although my opinion on Proposition 8 is not voiced here). If you want to see me talk current events, go to "In My Opinion."

I am going to buy JP Morgan Chase

Due to abuses to my account privileges, I see no other alternative but to make plans to buy JP Morgan Chase. They have failed to send me any documentation that says that I payed my - checking account balance in full. In fact, they owe me $360 dollars (I really should add interest). By buying them, I can get full control of the bank's policies and get the Recognition I should have had.

They are really annoying me.

Dungeons and Dragons Classic

Too many people feel that there is something wrong with 4e. They aren't allowed to put their finger on it, the fanbois of WotC just shoot them down. But, 4e just doesn't feel like Dungeons and Dragons to them. 4e didn't feel like D&D to me!

A person on the ICE boards is figuring that WotC is preparing for something. Something big. This might be something like a new Digital Initiative. Or better . . . Dungeons and Dragons Classic. So, what is Dungeons and Dragons Classic? Hopefully, something real, something that will capture real D&D again. A game that will feel like what Dungeons and Dragons is supposed to feel like. But don't hold your breath.

A possible Rolemaster Ad

Barbarian, Shanna, Rolemaster, Dungeons and Dragon

With apologies to my new friend Craig John and ICE in general. This is just a hypothetical ad for Rolemaster. Nothing more. Check out his blog at Craig's Sketchpad.

Take a Look at what I can be able to do!

Vue 7, I was sold on it a long time ago. And I'm not ready yet to learn the program. YET!

A Full Frontal Assault on D&D

There is talk about how Iron Crown Enterprises can get itself back on top. It has been suggested a full frontal assault on D&D might be the ticket. I think an audiovisual assault on D&D might be best. Rolemaster is still more advanced than D&D 4e. To show that they are different games I present two videos.

Rolemaster:

D&D 4e:

D&D 4e is a swashbuckler's game. With Rolemaster, you can get in there and mix it up. In light of how Wizards of the Coast has been treating their fans in recent time, it's time for Iron Crown Enterprises to step up to the plate and show everyone that Rolemaster is still viable and can still compete.

Testing the Lana Elite skin texture

Elite Skin Texture Test by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

I recently acquired the Elite Skin Texture Lana from DAZ 3D. So naturally I had to test it. I believe the test is successful. The texture looks like gold when added, but when rendered, its skin. I'll do a before and after picture later. Right now, judge the results.

Lack of Swordsmanship Poses

I totally, and completely, mourn the lack of Swordsmanship poses. No one else will do it, and since I need them, I took it upon myself to make some poses for swordsmanship. To do it, I had to study Renaissance swordsmanship a bit. The history of it, commentary, and so forth. I came up with my first pose, above. I might have two new ready poses before soon, though. I guess my soulknife revision will be put on hold for a bit.

Soulknives ROLEMASTERIZED!

Soulknife Duel by ~Atlantean6 on deviantART

I converted the Soulknife to Rolemaster before. Now it is time to rewrite and update those rules for use with both Rolemaster Classic and Rolemaster Fantasy Roleplaying. Here, two soulknives are practicing their own variant of swordmanship.

Internet Marketing

As if you don't know, I'm adding some marketing widgets for companies I admire. This is internet marketing, and so far it's the best PASSIVE INCOME STREAM that is known today. After all, your adding advertising space to my blog.

Companies pay me for you clicking on the advertising links. A nice arrangement, really. I've added a Rolemaster Amazon.com Store, two links to DAZ 3D, and a link to RPG shop. Scroll down my blog to find them. ;)
